Horrible film. Apparently it's a documentary, but it sure feels scripted in my opinion. There was just nothing at all good in this film. I don't know how it got such good ratings, but to each his own I guess.

Starbucked
Starbucked - 5/10

Not rated on Rotten Tomatoes
Not on box office mojo
This guy is pretty intense. Winter, which is his legal name by the way, has made it his life goal to visit every licensed Starbucks in the country and abroad. In order to count a visit he has to take a picture of the location and drink at least a sampler's cup of coffee. This film documents a few of his visits, but focuses more on trying to find out why he is doing this and what keeps him going.
I found this documentary to be pretty easy to sit through. I never found myself bored seeing as how Winter is such an "out there" kind of guy. I even checked his website and sure enough, he had visited every Starbucks I know of in my home town. My favorite part of this documentary had to be the end where he is teaching a class about why he is doing this. I never really thought of life in the way he does, and I'm not sure I completely agree, but it definitely makes you wonder.

Rawhead Rex
Rawhead Rex - 7/10

Well, this was pretty decent for what a 70s horror movie. It actually takes itself more seriously than I thought it would which I thoroughly enjoyed. The character was kind of cheesy looking, but the film actually had a decent story.
I love the first time Rex goes on a rampage and he walks through the kitchen throwing furniture and food everywhere. He means business! Oh no, he doesn't just want to kill your husband, he wants to make a mess for you to clean up afterward. What a beast.
I also felt like the one nudity scene in the film was kind of out of place. It's like the director was hesitant about putting it in or something. It was so random and the 3 or 4 shots it was in lasted maybe 4 or 5 seconds total. Totally unnecessary, but it's easy enough to ignore I guess.

Not a whole lot to this movie. Morgan Freeman is playing a nice guy who is trying to make a comeback as an actor. He meets a girl who is struggling to keep her sanity while working at a grocery store. The whole movie focuses on the two conversing about daily life. Nothing all that interesting in my opinion.
My favorite part was when Scarlet (Paz Vega) is in her job interview and Morgan Freeman talks to the secretary at the desk, who is played by Jim Parsons, better known as Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory. I love that guy!

"We must not split up, Marie. I do crazy things when I'm alone."
Man, great line to sum up this movie. Tons of crazy stuff going on. I hope this isn't what a typical teenage girl in France experiences.
This movie is kind of creepy in the beginning in that it takes a very taboo subject like obsession and border line stalking and shows it in the light of young "innocent" teenagers. You think it might be getting a little bit better when Marie and Floriane seem to be getting along together and then it just gets even weirder when you see them beginning to fall for each other.
Floriane was a roller coaster of a character. I started out hating her, than she got a little bit better, then I liked her, and then I hated her in the end. The whole ending was kind angering, but fitting I guess.
It was a good film in the end. One reason I like it is because I think the emotion's of the character's seem very human. This story definitely seems like something that could have happened in real life. This is like a teen drama done right. I thought the ending was like coming around full circle and closed out the story in the right way.
Good movie, I wouldn't mind watching it again. Once you get over the whole young teen lesbian/stalker/obsession part, it's a good movie.

This movie was much better then I expected it to be. From browsing various movie websites and forums over the past I've seen that this movie was held in pretty high regards, but I never really felt like spending the 3 and a half hours to watch this film. I'm glad I finally did!
I think the thing I like most about this movie is that, in my opinion, it holds up very well for a 55 year old movie. A lot of time when watching older films I can't help but realize how dated they are. I think that if this movie were remade today it would do very well in theaters. Not to say that I hope it ever gets remade, because I don't. I think this one is best left as the classic that it is.
I also liked how realistic it seemed. Not necessarily the actual fighting, but the fact that it was just a simple battle that seven samurai had to fight against a group of 40 bandits to protect a village. They weren't fighting for money or glory, just to protect the innocent farmers. I also loved Kikuchiyo. He gave great insight to what the villagers were going through and that they might be so helpless after all. Not to mention that he provides comic relief in some of the more serious situations.
Great, great movie. The only reason I'm not rating it higher is because I don't see myself watching it again alone. It was definitely a great film, it's just that it's length doesn't sit very well with my rating system.

"If you think about it, it's kind of like a trip to the sizzler!"
I had never heard about this movie until yesterday and upon hearing the premise I thought it would be pretty decent. There really isn't a whole lot going on in this movie, but I liked it for what it was. I think most boys in their teens would appreciate this movie to some extent. Its kind of like an extreme version of what most boys experience at some point in their life.
The movie was actually a good bit dirtier and more sexual than I thought it would be, definitely not your cheesy romantic story. I don't think I would recommend this to anyone, but I didn't mind watching it. I'm a sucker for lighthearted movies that don't take themselves too seriously, so this one was right up my alley.

Sixteen Candles
Sixteen Candles

I've been in a bit of an 80's mood lately and I've been watching a lot of the movies from that time period dealing with high school. When I think of 80's teen movies I usually have four movies that come to mind. Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, and Weird Science. I guess I just love Anthony Michael Hall and Molly Ringwald.
This is actually probably my least favorite of the four movies I mentioned above. I really don't like much about it aside from AMH and his group of friends, one of which is John Cusack. AMH actually has no name in this movie, he is referred to as "The Geek", at least that's what IMDB says. That about sums him up in all of his 80's movie rolls.
The best scene in this movie in my opinion is about half way through when they attend the big party after the dance. I would have been fine if the whole movie took place at a party like this. I've always been fond of party scenes where the nerds feel out of place. Not sure why, I guess I can kind of relate. I never really went to many parties in high school and I feel like I would have had similar experiencies if I had.
In the end, I give this movie a 7/10. While there are some enjoyable parts, and it fits in with the other 80 movies of the time, it's my least favorite of the four I mentioned earlier. I could definitely watch this movie again, but I probably wouldn't unless someone else wanted to.
By the way, that is kind of a deciding factor in my rating of movies. If I can watch it again on my own, I rate it in between 7 and 10 out of 10. If the only reason I'm watching it is because someone else wants to watch it, it will probably get a 5 or 6 out of 10. If I have no choice but to watch the movie, it's going to get a 4 or less. Just thought I would throw that out there for future reference.
